DAL Partners Joint Venture Team Selected to Provide Design Improvements at DAL
Dallas, TX - Jul 19, 2010

Tenant Finish Out Designed in Conjunction with Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP) to Support Cohesive, Modern Facility Expansion and Renovation

Dallas, TX – July 19, 2010 – DAL Partners, a joint venture of Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm to the built environment, and IEG Consulting Engineers, LLC, announces it has been selected by Southwest Airlines to provide design services related to the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP). The design team will provide all services necessary to lead and execute the design effort for tenant lease spaces for Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, the Transportation Security Administration and the City of Dallas Department of Aviation. Tenant lease spaces will be designed to support the facility's effort to renovate and expand Love Field to create a cohesive, modern facility that will serve the needs of Dallas citizens and travelers and will address the overall LFMP goal of becoming LEED-Certified.

The receipt of this contract follows GS&P's extensive work with the City of Dallas Department of Aviation to review the 2001 Airport Impact Analysis\Master Plan and subsequent development of a Terminal Area Redevelopment Program Study (TARPS).  TARPS was intended to assist the City of Dallas in planning for future facility growth, and to determine the best practical use of Dallas Love Field within currently accepted Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines for facility development. The study became the precursor of the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP) and is the approved guideline by which it is being developed.

"We are pleased to have this joint venture team working with us and other facility tenants to ensure all of our needs are met as part of Love Field's overall Modernization Program," Bob Montgomery, Vice President of Properties, Southwest Airlines. "DAL Partners' working knowledge of our tenants and DAL long-term operational goals will be invaluable as we seek to develop a design solution which will serve our employees, tenants and customers for years to come."

"We look forward to building on our existing relationships with Southwest and DAL," commented Sean M. Bogart, AIA, NCARB, LEED BD+C, project architect, Gresham, Smith and Partners.  "GS&P and IEG will work with each of the tenants to appropriately understand their needs while developing design solutions that consider current and future needs of airlines and passengers in response to evolving trends within the Aviation industry.  By incorporating elements of sustainable design we'll provide measurable added value to tenants in reduced energy and operating costs and enhanced quality of life."

"Our team's collective experience gives us unique insight into the planning and spatial allocation of the terminal expansion and renovations," Lynn Poole, project manager, IEG Consulting Engineers, LLC. "To aid in smooth facilitation of the project's design and implementation, DAL Partners will have staff located on-site at the height of design and construction to work hand-in-hand with other LFMP design team members, the airline tenants, the TSA and the DOA."

The new Dallas Love Field Airport will increase efficiency for travelers while maintaining the convenience that Love Field currently offers passengers. In the new design, the terminal will decrease in size approximately 25 percent by replacing a large amount of unused and outdated space with modern and efficient facilities. The three original concourses will be demolished and consolidated into one convenient, centrally located concourse for all airlines. In addition to the new concourse, the check-in and baggage claim areas will be redesigned. The main lobby space will be renovated but will retain the overall structure and volume of the original design. This portion of the facility is the symbolic heart of the terminal complex and a vital part of the passenger processing operation. In addition, the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP) will more than double the amount of available airport concessions – yet another tremendous benefit for Love Field customers.

GS&P and IEG Consulting Engineers have successfully worked together on various projects which were focused on terminal and buildout services. Throughout this contract, the DAL Partners joint venture will work closely with LFMP Design Coordinator Corgan Associates throughout each phase of design and construction.  DFW Fire Protection, Inc. will provide fire protection engineering services related to tenant lease spaces.
